BrightLeaf™ is a thin-film scintillator composite that converts high-energy photons, such as X-rays, gamma rays, and charged particles, such as electrons and protons, into visible light. The emission spectrum can be tuned within the visible range, including Blue, Green, and Red. The emitted light matches well with the spectral response of light detection devices, such as CCD, CMOS, and TFT-based detectors. BrightLeaf is printed from BrightSplash to create a thin film of any size using roll-to-roll technology. BrightLeaf is now offered in a variety of scintillator loadings from 1wt% up to>95wt% and various thicknesses from 50µm to 350µm and customizable sizing from a few millimeters to square meters on various substrates. BrightLeaf can be cut with precision into strips to fulfill the specific requirements of customers utilizing linear detectors. BrightLeaf can be mounted directly on the existing readout systems in X-ray flat panel detectors, or it can also be used as a stand-alone (decoupled) layer together with the camera to capture the image.
BrightLeaf capabilities
Fast
Our low-afterglow BrightLeaf™ (decay time < 1 µs) accelerates the inspection speed of scintillator-based X-ray detectors (up to 200 fps) and even photon-counting detectors (up to 6000 fps). This significant reduction in inspection time translates into lower inspection costs per unit in industrial imaging and a reduced radiation dose for patients in medical imaging.
High Resolution
BrightLeaf™ can enhance the spatial resolution of X-ray images by more than 100%. This superior resolution empowers end-users, such as engineers, to detect imperfections in manufactured parts like batteries. Furthermore, it enables radiologists to see the finest details in X-ray images, ensuring they can make crucial, life-saving decisions.
High DQE
BrightEye™ features a high Detective Quantum Efficiency (DQE), meaning it efficiently converts incoming radiation into visible light with minimal noise loss. A high DQE improves image quality by enhancing signal-to-noise ratio, allowing even low-dose signals to be captured clearly which enables faster and more accurate beam monitoring.
Scalable
BrightLeaf™ can be produced by scalable techniques, such as Roll-to-Roll and Roll-to-Plate methods to manufacture films in various sizes, ranging from a few square millimeters to tens of centimeters in each dimension. BrightLeaf™ can then be precision-cut to any shape such 43 cm x 43 cm for large-area detectors or strips for line inspection detectors.
